Can be backordered ?
Why do the stock levels show “Can be backordered” ?
We have set this up so if customers want to make a bulk order beyond what is currently in stock they can.
If back orders are not allowed, then customers can never add more to their cart or add to quote than what is currently in stock. This is a system limitation.
By enabling back orders to be made, the customer can add as many pieces of a design as required to their cart or quote.
Back orders are then manufactured to order. If there are 10 items in stock and you order 20 then you can instruct us to either send 10 items immediately and the other 10 once manufactured or you can wait and send all 20 items at once. The postage fees and also how quickly you need your items will be a consideration and may determine if you choose to have 1 or 2 parcels sent.
The product page will show like this:
If for example 10 items are added, the cart and checkout pages will show the message:
- You have products in the cart that are made to order.
For those products estimated delivery time is 4 weeks.
The cart and checkout pages show the current stock level and the number of items ordered so you can see the number of items that will be backordered (made to order).
